Chapter 3
Crossroad of Shadows
The crossroads were shrouded in neon and danger. Mara’s mind raced as she clutched the stolen code close, her only leverage in a game stacked with ghosts from her past. Trust was a luxury she couldn’t afford anymore. "You said you knew who’s behind this," she demanded of the stranger trailing her steps. The city’s pulse throbbed with distant chaos—sirens, shouting, the smell of wet asphalt mixing with gunpowder. "It’s not just a conspiracy," he said, voice low and urgent. "It’s a war for control, and you’re the bait. They’ve shattered everything to get to you." The air was thick with tension as a glint of metal flashed in the alley beside them—a gun. Mara’s breath caught. With nowhere left to run, she faced an impossible choice: surrender the code and save herself, or trust the stranger and risk it all. The night held its breath, waiting for her decision.
