Chapter 3
Crossing the Line
The abandoned warehouse smelled of rust and forgotten promises. Mara’s footsteps echoed as she entered, senses sharpened like a predator’s. A single lamp flooded the room with harsh light, illuminating a figure chained to a post. "You came," the captive rasped, eyes wild with desperation. "They can't be allowed to win," Mara whispered, unlocking the chains with trembling hands. Secrets spilled like venom — betrayals that cut deeper than any blade. Outside, sirens wailed, footsteps closed in. Her phone buzzed: a message from an unknown number — "Trust no one. Not even yourself." Fear, fury, and determination battled within her. The walls closed in, and Mara faced a brutal choice: expose the truth and lose everything, or bury it and become part of the nightmare. As the door burst open, the air thick with threat, her world shattered irreparably.
