Moonlight spilled cold onto the cracked stone pedestal where the Skyward Codex lay. Jade reached out, fingers trembling, the weight of centuries pressing down. "Stop!" Malik’s voice was sharp, filled with urgency and pain. "If you open it, there’s no going back." Jade’s eyes locked with his, the betrayal unspoken but palpable. "Why didn't you tell me the truth?" He hesitated, then said, "Because some secrets belong to shadows. Because survival demands sacrifice." The wind howled through the ruin's open arches, carrying the scent of storm and impending ruin. Jade’s choice was impossible: trust Malik, and risk doom; open the codex, and unleash unknown power. A sudden tremor shook the ground — the ruin was collapsing. Dust stung their eyes as the exit crumbled, and Jade faced a shattering revelation: the codex itself might be the key to life or death, salvation or destruction. With a breath caught between hope and despair, she flipped open the ancient tome.
