Chapter 1
The Falling Sky
The sky cracked open with a low, echoing roar that rattled the bones of the earth itself. Jade Carter stumbled backward, her heart pounding, as shards of blue and gray clouds tumbled into the unknown abyss above the towering cliffs. "It’s happening," she whispered, the words barely audible over the howling wind.
"Jade, focus! We need to move," her companion, Malik, shouted, dragging her away from the crumbling precipice. The air tasted of ozone and dust, the scent of rain yet to fall, mingled with the sharp metallic tang of fear.
“Where do we even go?” Jade gasped, pain twisting in her side from the fall she barely avoided.
Malik pointed toward a dense forest below, shadows stretching like claws in the evening light. “Into the Wilds, to the old ruins. They hold answers — if the legends are true.”
A crack split the horizon as a monstrous shadow blotted out the last trace of the sun. Jade’s eyes widened, adrenaline spiking as she grappled with the spiraling nightmare unfolding around them. The sky was falling, literally, and the fate of everything hinged on a forgotten secret buried in the ancient stones.
"We have no time," Malik said steady but urgent. "If we don’t find the Skyward Codex, the world as we know it is lost."
Jade’s fingers clenched into fists, the weight of destiny settling hard on her shoulders. "Then let’s find that codex... before it’s too late."
The forest beckoned with whispered mysteries and unseen dangers. As they plunged into the darkness beneath the dying sky, a distant howl pierced the night — and Jade knew their journey had only just begun.
